IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The Riviera Office will be closed on Monday, December 26th, 2011, and Monday, January 2nd, 2012, in observance of the Christmas and New Year Holidays, respectively.
CHRISTMAS LUMINARIES
It is getting to be that time again, when the community will light up on Christmas Eve. For those of you who are new to our community, luminaries are put out in front of your home and lit at dusk on Christmas Eve. Luminaries are made by putting sand (for weight) in the bottom of a lunch size paper bag or plastic milk container, (cut a hole in the back of the plastic container for ventilation<) and place a votive candle or tea light inside the bag or container.
Candles and bags will be on sale at the Association Office, starting on the Monday, after Thanksgiving. They are 10 cents each and bags are 10 cents each.
Wait until you see how beautiful our community looks when these are all lit, as you tour the community to see the Christmas decorations.
NOTES TO THE RESIDENTS
To avoid interruption of Christmas week, the December Board Meeting will be held December 20th, at 1:30 PM.
Kevin Hendricks from the Collier County Stormwater Management, will return to our Clubhouse on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 2:00 PM. This is an open meeting for all residents to attend that have questions or concerns about the design and plans for the open ditch that runs along the northern and eastern boundaries of Riviera Golf Estates.
Would the person who took both TV remote controls from the Annex Exercise Room, please return them. This is a huge inconvenience for everyone.

Anyone interested in running for the Board of Directors, must submit a resume no later than Monday, January 16, 2012, at our Riviera Golf Estates Office, in order to be included on the ballot in the mailing for voting. There will be three (3) openings for the Board this coming year. Nominations from the floor are also allowed at the Annual Meeting.
Candidates Night will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 7:00 PM, at our Clubhouse. The evening is set aside to allow residents to ask our candidates questions of concern.
Our Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 7:00 PM, at our Clubhouse. Our management company (Compass Management Group) will mail each resident member a ballot and all necessary information pertaining to the Annual Meeting.
Bruce Kean, for the Board of Directors
RESIGNATION ANNOUNCED
After much thought and prayer, my wife Lois and I, have decided to move north to our home state of Indiana and spend more time with our family. We both have enjoyed and considered it a pleasure and honor to work and serve the wonderful folks here at Riviera Golf Estates. Time does not allow us to visit each of you, individually, as we would like, but we wish you the best in health and happiness and assure you that Riviera will always have a soft place in our hearts.
As of November 16, 2011, Noon, I discontinue my duties and resign from the Riviera Golf Estates Board of Directors.
Bruce Kean
NOTE FROM THE ACTING PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Bruce Kean has resigned from his position as President of the Riviera Golf Estates Board of Directors, effective November 16, 2011. He will surely be missed. His dedication to Riviera Golf Estates residents was remarkable. As a result, I will be Acting President until the February 2012 Elections. I have appointed Ann Wallace as an Interim Board Member until the next election. Ann graciously accepted and I am sure she will do a wonderful job for our community. Although, I know that I could never fill Bruce's shoes, I will do my very best to work through this transition.
Thank you...Pam Mullins
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD (ARB)
PLEASE NOTE: Since the December Board of Directors meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 20th, all ARB application requests to be reviewed at the December Board meeting should be submitted no later than Wednesday morning, December 14, 2011.
Effective May 1, 2011, the Board of Directors eased some of the requirements for ARB applications. A sample of the revised ARB application with the new requirements listed on the back of the form can be found on-line at www.RivieraGolfEstates.org. Of course, copies are in the Clubhouse, too. If you are in doubt about whether or not you need to submit an ARB request, you are urged to submit one. If not necessary, you will be notified, promptly.
The Collier County Public Utilities Division is currently installing the Cross-Connection Control Device throughout our community. The device may be painted, but green or black paint is usual. By law, you may NOT paint it purple or red. And…the device may NOT be covered in any way. It is important for you to note the requirements for landscaping around the device. Basically, plants, no closer than 18”, without thorns or sharp leaves, are the only permissible means to camouflage the pipes and a 36” opening on one side is required.

ANN'S COMMENTS
Welcome to all residents both new and returning for the start of a new season in Paradise. We have had a change of the guard since last season, with Lois Kean stepping down as Social Director. My name is Ann Wallace, and I'm excited about serving as your new Social Director. Over this past month, I've been busy familiarizing myself with the many activities and groups in our Association. I hope to follow in Lois' footsteps and provide our residents with an active and varied social season.
In order to keep the cost of our dinners and dances affordable for all, we will not be supplying beer and wine for those functions, unless otherwise noted.
HOLIDAY DECORATIONS: Volunteers are needed for Holiday Decorating. We'll be “decking the halls” on Saturday, December 3rd, from Noon until we're done. If you can give an hour or two of your time that day it would be great.
For those of you who are new to the community or may be volunteering to host our monthly social functions, the following is for your information:
Committees: Let’s remember in pricing dinners or a luncheon with a caterer, to allow funds for paying taxes in addition to the total cost of the food. If the caterer or entertainment group does not have a contract for you to sign, contracts are available in the Social Director’s Office file. End of the month Budget Forms for the Dances and Food Services are available, as well. Remember to always turn in all funds immediately after the Coffee Hour and for any expenses that occur during the month, keep your receipts and you will be reimbursed.
If you have any suggestions, comments or concerns, you may contact me, Ann Wallace, at 732-7808 or email me at wallaceann0811@comcast.net.
Ann Wallace, Social Director

RIVIERA CARE WEAR
Thank you to all who stopped by our Annual Display and Sale at the November Coffee Hour. Your support of our efforts is appreciated. The proceeds of the sale will be used to offset the cost of materials to produce the items donated to local assisted living facilities, shelters and the Women’s Center at Physicians Regional Hospital.
Three neighbors have shown an interest in joining us and received patterns for hats, booties and the teddy bear. I hope they will enjoy the time they spend knitting and crocheting for a good cause. Two dozen baby hats, booties and Santa toys will be dropped off this month and lap robes will be distributed at local assisted living facilities.
Two dozen baby hats, booties and knitted toys are dropped off each month and now that the cooler weather will be arriving, lap robes will be distributed at local assisted living facilities.
We need more volunteers to make knitted or crocheted baby hats, booties and toys to meet our need. If you need yarn, needles, hooks, patterns or just a refresher course on knitting or crocheting give me a call 213-1690. Completed items can be dropped off at my home 770 Charlemagne Blvd.

LIBRARY
TO ALL RIVIERA RESIDENTS: We have a lovely little "Reading Library " in our Annex. Lately, people are dropping off items that look like they are from their attics. We are all volunteers and when you do this, you make more work for us because we have to take them to Goodwill, St. Mathews House or some other charity. Please do not drop off items such as this. We do NOT take Games, Puzzles, Leaflets, Photographs or Books that were COPYRIGHTED over 10 YEARS ago. We WILL take some Medical books, as long they are less than 5 years old, since Medicine changes so rapidly. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to the coming year. If you have any questions, please call me
Susan Larson, at 774-2625, Thank you.
